HS 620822: nightwear, fabric composition and national tariff checks

Guide reviewed 2026-09-23. Source observations below retain their own dates.

The short description on a national line may only describe a material. To understand what it covers, read the parent heading and product context. The US example for 620822 becomes much clearer when its nightwear context is shown alongside the material wording.

A short description needs its hierarchy

The US record combines a parent heading for women’s or girls’ garments, a nightdresses-and-pajamas context and a line for man-made fibres. The Bangladesh record includes a fuller product description in one row. Reading only the last few words can lose the garment limitation.

Prepare the textile facts

Give the reviewer the intended wearer category, garment type, fibre percentages and how the fabric is constructed. Include photographs and the technical specification when available. Do not assume that a similar-looking knitted item, a mixed-fibre item or a different garment category shares the same classification.

Do not transfer one destination’s rate to another

The Bangladesh and US records use different national codes and different tax columns. Even when the six-digit prefix matches, their printed treatment cannot be substituted. The Bangladesh TTI field remains a source observation; the US Special column remains conditional on the relevant eligibility rules.

Separate a single style from a product batch

A one-product review should describe one consistent garment specification. If a catalogue contains different fibres, constructions or wearer categories, identify those differences before requesting a batch quote. Grouping unlike products under a single convenient code can hide the very facts that need review.

Before requesting a shipment check

  • Who is the garment designed for, and what type of garment is it?
  • What are the fibre percentages by weight?
  • How is the fabric constructed?
  • Are there materially different styles in the shipment?
