HS 842410: checking fire-extinguisher duties and other charges

Guide reviewed 2026-09-23. Source observations below retain their own dates.

A duty lookup for a fire extinguisher must distinguish the tariff description from the complete import cost. Our source examples show that a zero or free customs-duty entry can coexist with other printed tax columns or further measures to investigate.

Define the imported item

Record whether the shipment contains complete extinguishers, empty units, replacement parts or extinguishing material, together with its technical specification. The cited product family describes extinguishers whether charged or not, but that does not automatically classify every component or refill product under the same code.

Read every Bangladesh column

The Bangladesh example exposes CD, SD, VAT, AIT, AT, RD and the source’s printed TTI separately. Inspect each value and retain the source page. A zero in CD is a statement about that column in this edition, not confirmation that the shipment has no charges. The TTI value is reproduced from the source, not calculated by this website.

Keep the US columns and additional checks separate

The US example has separate General, Special and Column 2 fields. A “Free” entry in a base column is not evidence that all additional duties, fees or import controls have been assessed. The import origin and entry date are still needed for a shipment-specific review.

Tariff research and product compliance are different steps

A product description and duty entry do not establish that the equipment may be sold or installed in the destination market. Ask the importer or relevant specialist which conformity, labelling, transport and clearance documents apply to the exact equipment. Our worked research brief records these as unresolved checks rather than declaring compliance.

Before requesting a shipment check

  • Is the item complete, charged or uncharged, and what agent does it contain?
  • Are spare parts or refill materials included?
  • What are the origin, destination and planned import date?
  • Which conformity and transport documents are available?
